MANUAL LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE

DEEP OSCILLATION

SCAR THERAPY

The lymphatic system plays a crucial role in maintaining our health. It is responsible for collecting and transporting lymph fluid, which contains waste products, toxins, and pathogens, away from the tissues and towards the lymph nodes. The lymph nodes filter and cleanse the lymph fluid before it is returned to the bloodstream.

When the lymphatic system becomes sluggish or blocked, it can lead to a buildup of toxins, fluid retention, and a weakened immune response. This is where lymphatic massage can be incredibly beneficial!

One of the primary benefits of lymphatic massage is its ability to stimulate the flow of lymph fluid. The gentle, rhythmic movements used during the massage help to activate the lymphatic vessels and encourage the movement of fluid throughout the body. By doing so, lymphatic massage can help remove waste products, toxins, and excess fluid more efficiently, reducing swelling and promoting detoxification

Another significant benefit of lymphatic massage is its ability to support the immune system. The lymphatic system and the immune system are closely interconnected, and a healthy lymphatic system can enhance immune function. By improving lymphatic flow, lymphatic massage can help boost the body's ability to fight off infections, viruses, and other harmful pathogens.

I offer two types of Manual Lymphatic Drainage, Brazilian and FG-MLD.

DEEP OSCILLATION® allows the creation of biologically effective oscillations in the treated tissue using electrostatic attraction and friction. In contrast to other therapies, these pleasant oscillations have a gentle and deep-acting effect on all tissue components to an 8 cm depth (through skin, connective tissue, subcutaneous fat, muscles, blood and lymph vessels).

Pain relief: Deep oscillation therapy can effectively reduce pain by stimulating the nerve fibers responsible for pain perception. It helps in alleviating both acute and chronic pain conditions, such as musculoskeletal pain, joint pain, and postoperative pain.

Oedema reduction: The oscillations created by this therapy promote lymphatic drainage, which helps in reducing oedema or swelling. It enhances the removal of excess fluid and waste products from the tissues, leading to improved circulation and reduced swelling.

Improved tissue healing: Deep Oscillation therapy enhances the microcirculation in the treated area, which promotes tissue healing. It increases the supply of oxygen and nutrients to the tissues while removing metabolic waste products, thereby accelerating the healing process.

Relaxation and muscle relaxation: The gentle vibrations produced during deep oscillation therapy have a relaxing effect on the muscles and tissues. It helps in reducing muscle tension, relieving muscle spasms, and promoting overall relaxation.

Improved mobility and flexibility: It can be beneficial for conditions like arthritis, sports injuries, and post-surgical rehabilitation.

Scar tissue management: It promotes the remodeling of scar tissue, making it more pliable and less restrictive.

Scar tissue is less functional after Surgery. As your body heals after an injury or surgery, scar tissue forms. Scar tissue is fibrotic and less mobile than pre-injury. Adhesions may form, meaning that the layers of tissue beneath the skin stick together and this can restrict movement and limit the range of movement, not only at the site of injury/surgery, but more globally throughout the body, along the fascial lines. If left untreated, this can lead to further restrictions or injury at other joints/sites if of the body.

Stimulate changes in scars; on the skin surface and below with any adhesions, fibrosis in the underlying tissue

Reduce common symptoms e.g. sensitivity, pain and itching

Stimulate and boost healing after surgery or injury

Assess and treat any related functional changes

Support emotional well-being after trauma or surgery

PRE & POST SURERGY

Surgeons find it easier to make an incision through clean, well drained tissue.  It is recommended that patients have 1 to 2 Lymphatic Drainage Massages 2 to 4 days prior to the scheduled procedure.

These gentle therapeutic massages help to drain toxins and free radicals from tissue, creating healthier tissue going into surgery. This results in reduced bruising, swelling and overall discomfort for the patient.

Post Surgery it is recommend that patients have a minimum of 8 Lymphatic Drainage Massages starting from 3 to 7 days after surgery.

The First 2 massages should be scheduled 2 to 3 days apart, then if needed 1 to 2 more sessions 6 days apart for the treatment of developing scar tissue. You will feel much looser and have a decrease in discomfort after your sessions. These sessions speed up the recovery time, improve tissue elasticity and assist with rapid dissipation of swelling.

Using a combination of Manual Lymphatic Drainage & Deep Oscillation & Soft Tissue Therapy I can help move the fluid by gently pumping it back into the lymph vessels, reducing the swelling, retention of fluids and pain after surgery.

Pre & Post Care Swellings, Pain, and Bruising are significantly reduced allowing a 50% reduction in recovery times after surgery.

SOFT TISSUE THERAPY

Soft Tissue Therapy is the management, manipulation, and rehabilitation of soft tissues of the body including muscles, tendons, and ligaments. This is for anybody wishing to guard against or recover from a soft tissue injury.

  • Improve circulation

  • Assist in the removal of metabolic waste

  • Sedate or stimulate nerve endings

  • Increase or decrease muscle tone

  • Increase or decrease muscle length

  • Remodel scar tissue when required

  • Assist in mental preparation for sporting participation

You do not need to be a sports performer to benefit from Soft Tissue Therapy. The benefits above can also help relieve the many day to day problems, repetitive strain injury, sprains, tension, fatigue, that everyone experiences.
